This one is a juvenile Black-crowned Night Heron - Kudos to you - you have got a very beautiful closeup photograph, with wet head and a look of what a juvenile bird would do (it has a naughty hippi look); The Pond herons do not have wing bars; One more key is that the iris(eye color) of Pond herons are yellow, whereas the night herons have reddish iris. An adult black-crowned Night heron would be white with black crown and rump. If you are not bored, the legs will be stretched and look longer for Pond herons, whereas night herons tuck their legs and stand. But you have a wonderful photograph, congratulations! I really love this one for its preserved nature!

Fantastic DOF and you have got a real closeup man! The title could have also been "Hippie in the Wild" ;-)

Thanks Sid, Nish, Suyog, We were on a boat, and most of the birds were used to boats so we cld go close to them, otherwise we need atleast 600mm zoom :-)
